As the snow begins to fly I'm reminded of some of my favorite things. Each season has something to be excited about. Spring and Fall have got to be my faves. This last fall has been wonderful, we've been so blessed. I think this is why this image resonates with me right now. And probably because I've taken far too many trips to fast food joints to eat burgers lately. That's what I get for thinking I'm too busy to pack a lunch or dinner a little more often. Sorry Snarrlylunchbox, I've been neglecting you. Anyway, my burger list includes: Warren's, McDonalds, Wendy's, In & Out Burger, Johnny Rockets, 5 Guys, Chili's, and Crown Burger. They've all been pretty tasty, but I ask myself, what is it about the simple hamburger you get at McDonald's that just satisfies? That's right, the one right out of the happy meal. Everything about this thing is as nostalgic as the blanket I toted around when I was a kid. The size, the taste, the smooth texture of that little bun. Just the right amount of ketchup; which can sometimes be applied a little unevenly but no big deal, that's part of the charm. The pickle, a few onions. Magic. The best part: it tastes the exact same every time any where you go inside or outside the US. It's nice to have constants in your life. Even if it comes in the form of a thin slice of meat in a warm bun.

Yes! That tiny little McDonald's hamburger! That's what I order whenever I go there. Becky and I had many of summer of ordering the number 2 extra value meal (you know - the one with two of those little cheeseburgers) and sharing it. It brings back good memories. There's something about the smooth slightly warm bun. I always find the pickle and then eat the rest of the hamburger first - saving the bit with the pickle on it for last.
Also: Snarrlylunchbox. So funny.
