Let the Banniverthdays begin!

It's the most wonderful time of the year. For twenty days and twenty nights we'll be celebrating our wedding anniversary along with Becky's and my birthday. Each event is spaced out 10 days, and things got under way this past Friday with our anniversary celebration. We like to treat this as our family's birthday; that way our kids get a little more excited. We pull out the birthday sign and hang it on the wall, and we generally consume more treats than normal. Our usual treat staples include ice cream, red licorice, and peanuts, but up until this point we've been enjoying Becky's strawberry freezer jam. It's delicious. We're celebrating 8 years of marriage and 30 years in age this time around. The question that both Becky and I are asking is, "Since when did we become adults?" The evidence is incriminating: we've got 3 children, a mortgage, a minivan, homemaker and marketing careers respectfully; must I say more? All of this happened so quickly. Thankfully we've been blessed with so many wonderful memories these last 8 years that I'm astounded when I pause to think of them all. For me that is what the Banniverthdays is all about. It is a time of reflection on years past; a time to consider things learned and progress made. Having started a new chapter in my career with Struck this last year I've got plenty to think about. My thoughts extend to my church involvement and my calling into the Tabernacle choir, my new physical regimen that has me preparing for a marathon next month, and most of all the things I've learned in my family life. 8 years is nearly decade of marriage, and truly it seems as if we are just barely starting our life together. I look forward with great anticipation to the next 8 years of marriage, and really the next 30 years of living. I don't think I could have crafted a sweeter existence here on earth than what I've been dealt from above. Happy anniversary Becky. Happy birthday to you, and happy birthday to me!

What is January 20, 2000? That is the answer to the question.
