11 years ago this day I was living in Limá, Perú serving an LDS mission. My area was a small town called San Juan de Miraflores. I served in this area for some time and moved around within it to serve in various wards during my time there. On February 7, 1998 I found a wonderful family who was willing to offer of their service to myself and my companion and become our pension. They prepared each meal for us so that we could dedicate the maximum time possible finding and teaching those who were interested in hearing the gospel. This family was the Familia Leturia Pacheco. What a wonderful time we had getting to know one another during this time. Everyone in the family made sure that the elders were taken care of a comfortable while we were there. Even after I transferred from that city la hermana Leturia found me one P-day to say hello from the family. She gave me this drawing that her 5 year old daughter drew, and I've treasured it since. Shortly after I returned home I lost contact with many of my friends in Perú including this family. Recently, on a whim I decided to Google their name just to see if I could connect with them once again. I was happily surprised that the first link I saw was a profile page for who I knew as Juanita, now a 16 year old young woman. I soon regained contact through email, and what do you know, they still remember me. I'm thrilled to know they are doing well, and that their son has just returned home from his mission. La Hermana Leturia remembers me saying that I'd one day sing in the Tabernacle Choir. What a pleasure it is for me to have accomplished what I said I would do and to send them the first CD I recorded and released with the choir. La Hermana Leturia always told me things always happen for a reason within the plan on salvation, she didn't believe in coincidences, and even on this 11th anniversary neither do I.
