Arnold Friberg passed away today. Of all of the artists that has made a lasting impression on my mind for the longest period of time I would have to say that artist is Mr. Friberg. His work became a part of my life practically before I could walk. His paintings depicting scenes of the Book of Mormon were the most important pages to me of my earliest edition of that book. In those days these pictures subdivided the long text-heavy pages that were too tedious for a young boy to read. His interpretation of these stories on canvas will forever be the visual foundation of my favorite Book of Mormon characters. I would hope his opportunity to meet these people he was famous for painting is now at hand. I'd post some more of his work in this post, but honestly, go pick up the latest edition of the Book of Mormon and check them out for yourself... or you can google his name.
