For years I've tried to make it a point to carve a pumpkin for Halloween. Ever since the official pumpkin carving tools were invented I've had a lot of fun since the whole process has been made a lot easier. Where were these tools when I was growing up? I remember one Halloween that we stuck a carving knife into our pumpkin and were unable remove the knife let alone carve the dumb thing. We ended up painting a face on the stabbed pumpkin and placing it out on the porch for the night. We just didn't have the right tools to make the process enjoyable. Who was the genius who invented these small, light weight, non sharp, squash cutting dynamos? The lucky guy should be living off the money earned from registering that patent. My latest creation has a ton of influence from my little girls. Rather than the traditional Halloween design or even gathering inspiration from the character of the actual pumpkin itself, we decided to do a Disney Princess pumpkin. Ariel has never looked better than she does carved in squash. She'd be happy to know that I scooped out the pumpkin seeds with my dinglehopper.

That's awesome! My girls would love this! My poor kids haven't gotten to carve pumpkins this year because they have a very inmotivated Mom, so they colored their pumpkins instead.
I'm glad you got the pumpkin in picture before it "decomposed" as Alyssa would say.
