Here Fishy Fishy

Took the kiddies fishing for the first time last week. Now they think they are experts for some reason. One day when they go to a real fishing hole instead of a fish farm I guess they'll learn that they're not all that smart after all. We had a great time though. Both the girls caught their first fish while their little brother watched with a bit of trepidation each time we pulled a flip-flopping fish from the pond. When it came time to gut and fillet the three fish we caught, I came across some very unexpected tears from my oldest. "Don't cut my fish Dad, don't cut him. He's too cute to cut. I don't want to eat him." My darling little girl, with all the love in her heart really wanted to keep her fish, take it home, show it to mom, and perhaps make it pet or something--at least that is what I read in her tear-filled eyes that afternoon. I'm not sure how it was that I got her to understand that the whole point of us catching the fish was to be able to take them home to eat them, but thankfully she arrived at that understanding before too long. Now they kids want to go back to the fish farm to catch more. Perhaps we should cook up what we caught first and see if the fish is worth going back to catch for a second fish feast.
