Awesome. Amazing. Brilliant. Is it too bold to say that the opening ceremonies for the 2008 Olympics in Bejing was the most incredible show to ever be put together in the history of the world? Perhaps, but I was certainly thinking along these lines during the entire production. What an incredible mixture of art, sport, history, story telling, fireworks, and human spirit. After each section of the production I was asking myself, "How in the world did they do that?" The most amazing thing for me was the use of people. So many people. How powerful is it to witness such a mass of individuals coming together under a single vision, fulfilling individual assignments, working together as a group, timing and synchronizing their movement; all for an overall incredible effect. I haven't ever stared at my television that long with my mouth wide open before. My children were even captivated by each visual and aural effect. Never did I think that instead of simply watching an event, that we would be a part of history. Certainly a part of world history that won't soon be forgotten.
