Since when did social networking find its place on the world wide web? I guess it has been there all along, but in some ways has been getting a bad rap due to those individuals choosing to use these networks in wrong and twisted ways. Thanks to the hip and web savvy crew I work with each day, I've finally been shown the purpose and benefits of an online social network. Think of it as a gigantic Rolodex that only have to set up and never worry about updating simply because your Rolodex cards update themselves. I've found this effective with LinkedIn's online resumes as well as keeping track of friends and family in a place like Facebook. You control your Rolodex; who is in it and also who sees you. My Rolodex index is growing. Not only is it fun to see how past peers and friends are doing, but it's also comforting to have such a tool considering that it isn't necessarily what you know, but who you know in finding life's opportunities.
