I'm excited to get to see my grandparents a little more now that they are living with my folks. I had the pleasure of helping them move in some of their things and visiting with them for a moment. Grandma was thrilled to have found her diamond rings hidden in the sofa cushions, and my grandpa was excited to demonstrate the funny contraption he had attached to his cane with medical tape. He took out his handkerchief, tossed it onto the floor, and picked it up with ease by pinching it with the bottom of the cane and the movable pincher. I didn't get a name for his little cane/grabber, but he did say that he had it patented. I think he's getting that confused with the patent he got on one of his mathematics concepts long ago. If it's truly patented, good for him, I'm sure there aren't many patent requests that come out of assisted living centers. They are still wearing their name tags by the way. My wife asked if they were worried that we'd forget their names. Grandma replied, "It's so we don't forget our own names."
