So I just finished listening to the song "Footloose" blaring in the background, now I hear some Boy George moving through the chorus of "Coma Cameleon". Where am I? At work. I decided to take the leap of faith and change employment from Destination Homes to STRUCK. Now I'm hearing Starship's "We built this city". STRUCK is a creative studio, agency, firm, whatever you want to call it. It is a great place to work. I'm even enjoying the learning curve with all of the new territory in my position of a print producer/print account manager. I work with amazingly talented people whom I can tell all want to create something that isn’t just well designed, but something that people will talk about. Sometimes when the tunes aren’t blaring, the noise from the employee lounge is while people get in a little Xbox during break. The play doesn’t keep people from doing their jobs though. I enjoy helping manage the creative process. It is a change from doing design work myself, but I don’t mind. I see that I’ve got a lot to give... I’ve also got a lot more to learn. I’m fortunate to be inspired at work by others, and to apply that inspiration at home when I have opportunities to freelance for people. I love the Salt Lake atmosphere in my new location, and I love that I work on Broadway. I’m just a 10 minute walk from temple square, the Energy Solutions Arena, or the Gateway. I take advantage of the commute to warm up my voice by belting out some Michael BublĂ©, or pondering while I listen to hymns strummed out by Michael Dowdle. It has been a great change, and I’m very blest to be where I am.Wednesday, November 7, 2007
