I've always been an Olympics nerd. There is something about the gathering of world countries to participate in sporting events that range from incredibly popular to obscure that is engaging for me. I'm sure if they occurred annually I wouldn't care much, but since we all have to wait for 4 years to get our next Olympic fix they seem extra exciting, extra dramatic, and extra Olympiatic. I loved the chance to volunteer for the winter olympics in SLC in '02, but I can get into the summer variety much more. It'll be fun to watch them with the kids. Even during some of the Olympic trial events we've sat down with them to teach them about new activities like diving and gymnastics. As soon as we did they were jumping off the couches into imaginary water and doing their own version of the floor exercise in the living room. I'm sure before the games end we'll have them chanting "U-S-A!" along with the crowds in Bejing.
