The Joy of Being Busy

I've developed a certain taste for pipe organ music as of late. Watching the organists at their craft is amazing to me. Playing the piano well looks hard enough to me. The organists have a full set of pedals at their feet to keep them on their toes, rows and rows of keys, buttons and knobs nearly surround them, music pages needing to be turned, and a conductor to look at. The result: an incredible spectrum of sound. I have no idea how much practice it takes to become a professional organist or what it must feel like to have your eye on so many things at once. I do however feel like my day to day experience can be a rigorous routine of keeping my eye on so many things at once. Managing a personal to do list at home, answering to 3 children, keeping tabs with the wife is a typical start to each day. 45 minutes later I'll pull into my work parking lot and step into another juggling act. Keeping designers busy, answering to account managers, vendors, clients, writing proposals, internal reviews, client reviews, are all part of the expected job responsibilities; however, every now and again it seems each activity will happen all at once. Heading home once a week by way of the Tabernacle Choir practice, jumping into some freelance work, getting in some running, and breaking down the day's events with the wife stand in the way of my head finally hitting the pillow. Life is busy, yet when managed well and with the accompaniment of the spirit, the results are amazing.
