The Grass is Always Greener Without a Fence

The all American dream of a house with a fenced in yard is alive and well at our house; however, rather than a white, wooden, picket fence, talk around our house involves a taupe colored 6 foot vinyl fence. Becky does the talking. I come from the frame of mind that fences are to keep animals from running away and to keep kids out of swimming pools. Becky sees a fence as a necessity for life. She’s coming from the viewpoint of a homemaker with small children. It is plain to see why she’d like to have one so badly. How nice to be able to send the children outside to play without the worry of them wondering off. How nice to be able to entertain family and friends in the privacy of a fenced in yard. The list goes on. As her supportive husband, I too look forward to the day where I can provide this luxury for our family… but. In the world of priorities, the fence is a backburner superstar. There is one rule in place for me with regards to this boundary line accessory; no debt shall be incurred to pay for a fence. I’m glad the wife and I can agree on this one point. For the last couple years we’ve talked about the day when we’ll be able to take the fence off the backburner and put it into the limelight. During this time I’ve gauged her desire to realize her fence dream. “If you had to choose between a piano and fence, a Hawaii vacation and a fence, a new car and a fence, what would you choose? Fence, fence, fence. Part of me feels like she’ll change her mind one day. I’m sure when she does, I’ll have come up with a great reason to buy a fence.

Taupe colored vinyl, huh? I've never actually seen one of those, I usually just see white. I'm sure that someday that fence will make a great addition to your awesome house.
